🏖️ Weymouth Beach has officially reopened following the completion of this year’s sand levelling works, with the popular seafront stretch welcoming visitors back from Sunday evening.

The essential maintenance programme focused on the section of golden sand between the Pavilion end of the beach and the iconic Jubilee Clock. Heavy machinery moved in earlier this month to redistribute sand and ensure the beach remains safe, level, and ready for the busy spring and summer seasons.

Once the machinery had cleared the area, the beach reopened at approximately 7pm on Sunday night. By Monday morning, early visitors were already enjoying the refreshed shoreline, with smooth, even sand stretching across the bay.

The annual levelling work is a key part of maintaining one of Dorset’s most popular seaside destinations. Over time, tides, storms, and footfall can cause uneven surfaces and build-ups of sand in certain areas. The planned works help prevent trip hazards, improve accessibility, and preserve the beach’s appearance.

Officials thanked residents and visitors for their patience while the work was carried out, acknowledging the temporary inconvenience caused by restricted access.

With the work now complete, locals and tourists alike can once again make the most of Weymouth’s award-winning beachfront as the town looks ahead to the warmer months.
