A 34-year-old man from Weymouth is due to appear in court following a serious road traffic collision that left a teenage cyclist with life-changing injuries.
The incident occurred on Thursday 10 April 2025 at around 5:26 pm on The Esplanade, near the Jubilee Clock Tower, involving a van and the teenage boy. The cyclist was airlifted to hospital for urgent treatment.
The man was arrested at the scene and, after a thorough investigation, has been issued with a postal requisition for causing grievous bodily harm with intent. He is scheduled to appear at Weymouth Magistrates’ Court on Friday 20 March 2026.
Authorities continue to appeal for any witnesses to come forward.
