Weymouth Town Council has elected Councillor David Harris as the new Mayor of Weymouth. Councillor Peter Dickenson was elected as Deputy Mayor during the authority’s latest full council meeting. Councillor Harris announced that his chosen charity for the coming year will be the British Heart Foundation and thanked fellow councillors for their support. The council also confirmed Councillor David Civil as the new leader of the authority, with Councillor Alex Fuhrmann appointed deputy leader.

During the meeting, outgoing mayor Councillor Caroline Nickinson presented the commemorative Ken Isaacs rose bowl to the junior section of Weymouth Angling Society in recognition of its contribution to the community during her term in office.
Peter and Ann Rendall were also awarded the title of Honorary Freeman for their dedication to charities and community organisations in Weymouth and Melcombe Regis.
