Floating rafts at Greenhill Beach won’t return this year. Councillors say safety concerns mean they’ll now look at alternative options for 2027.
Floating swimming rafts will not be returning to Greenhill Beach for the 2026 season.
Following legal advice from health and safety specialists, councillors agreed not to redeploy the rafts this year.
Instead, a cross-party group will be set up to explore safer options for the future.
This could include commissioning expert research into alternative swimming or marine leisure facilities.
A report is expected early next year, with the aim of making a decision in time for the 2027 season.
Members of the working group will be confirmed at a future meeting.
