Weymouth man sentenced for image offences

A man from Weymouth has been sentenced after admitting offences involving indecent images of children. Twenty one year old Coby Roper, from Littlemoor, pleaded guilty to six offences including making and distributing images. Bournemouth Crown Court heard he was given a two year prison sentence, suspended for two years. He must complete unpaid work and rehabilitation days, and will be subject to restrictions and placed on the sex offenders register. A sexual harm prevention order will remain in place for ten years.

Weymouth man Coby Roper has been sentenced after admitting six offences involving indecent images of children.

The 21-year-old, from Canberra Crescent in Littlemoor, pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent pseudo-images of a child and three counts of distributing them. The offences included material across categories A, B and C, with category A described as the most serious.

Bournemouth Crown Court heard that Roper was responsible for creating 413 category A images, 571 category B images and 895 category C images. He was sentenced on Friday, March 20 to a two-year custodial term, suspended for two years.

As part of the sentence, Roper must complete 10 Rehabilitation Activity Requirement days and carry out 200 hours of unpaid work. He is also subject to a sexual harm prevention order for 10 years and will be placed on the sex offenders’ register.

The suspended sentence means he will not serve time in custody unless he commits further offences within the two-year period.
