Eight bus shelters by the King’s Statue on Weymouth seafront have been refurbished as part of improvement works.
Dorset Council has completed a major refurbishment of eight bus shelters on Weymouth Esplanade.
The King’s Statue shelters were stripped back to bare metal, reprimed, repainted and cleaned over six weeks.
The shelters were first installed in 2012 ahead of Weymouth and Portland hosting Olympic sailing events.
The work was completed a week ahead of schedule and funded through the government’s Bus Service Improvement Plan programme.
Dorset Council says the refurbishment will improve the look and usability of the shelters and extend their lifespan for at least another decade.
A second phase is planned this summer, replacing existing passenger information screens with new colour displays.
