Witness appeal after man seriously injured in Weymouth road incident

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was seriously injured in Weymouth. It happened in Rodwell Road near Westwey Road on Monday evening. Officers say the man was dragged several metres by a black BMW, which then drove off.

Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage after a man was seriously injured in a road-related incident in Weymouth.

The incident happened at around 8.30pm on Monday 4 May 2026 in Rodwell Road, near the traffic lights at the junction with Westwey Road.

Dorset Police say a man aged in his 60s approached a black BMW 116D Sport and had a verbal altercation with the driver.

His arm was reportedly inside the vehicle when he was dragged several metres along the road.

The BMW is then said to have driven off, leaving the man with serious injuries.

Police Constable Sonny Scadden, of Weymouth police, said officers are carrying out detailed enquiries and are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident.

Motorists who were in the area at the time are being urged to check dashcam footage.
