About AIR
Local Radio. Properly Local.
AIR is Dorset’s community radio station, broadcasting across Weymouth and Portland on 107.2 FM, online, and through our dedicated live events stream, AIR Xtra.
Launched in 2011 as an online school station before gaining its FM licence in 2012, AIR was created to give the community a platform to be heard. That purpose remains at the heart of everything we do today.
Who’s Behind AIR?
AIR is operated by AIR FM Community Interest Company, a not-for-profit organisation serving the local area.
The station is led by Jamie Lyones, Chief Executive Officer, who is driving a fresh era of stronger local news, expanded sports coverage and a tighter, more dynamic sound, while building long-term sustainability for genuine local broadcasting. Jamie also leads the station’s news output as Chief News Editor.
Steve Mullins, Station Manager, brings a wealth of industry knowledge and is the station’s Mr Fix-It. He oversees the day-to-day operations of AIR.
Max Neilson-Howes provides tech support and presents on air. A talented young presenter and software whiz, Max helps keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes.
Dave Goulden works across production and presenting, bringing years of experience from a number of well-known stations.
Dan “Lorcian” Roth is AIR’s Computer Technician and Presenter, hosting the Midweek Mayhem Show every Wednesday evening.
Emma Nicholson is AIR’s Roving Reporter. With a background in journalism and writing, Emma supports the station’s news and community events coverage on social media, as well as interviewing people out and about.
Scott Williams works tirelessly behind the scenes, looking after the AIR website and keeping the music library updated. Scott has been part of AIR for many years and is a committed volunteer.
Behind the scenes, AIR is powered every day by a passionate team of presenters, volunteers and contributors.
