ASC Portland Open Day and Cardboard Boat Race

Come along to the Andrew Simpson Centre Portland annual open day and have a go at some exciting watersports!
On the 2nd of May 2026 we will be holding our annual Open Day and Carboard Boat Race at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy. There will be a variety of exciting watersports tasters available including sailing, mega SUP and kayaking. We have also partnered with the OTC to offer windsurfing and wingsurfing taster sessions! The sailing tasters are free of charge with the other activities available from £5 per person.
There is something for all ages to be able to get out on the water and enjoy so whether you love watersports or have never tried come down and have a go! Our qualified and experienced instructors are amazing at making everyone feel comfortable so if you or your little ones are a little nervous or apprehensive they will make you feel safe and confident around the water.
This year we will also be focusing on nature and sustainability so come and learn more about our oceans. We will have litter picks running throughout the day as well as hands on science experiments and creative ocean and nature activities!
Learn about sea safety ahead of the summer as well finding out all about what we offer throughout the year.
We will also have a bouncy castle and local stalls with activities for all ages. There will be a BBQ and bar with food and drinks available to purchase.
ANNUAL CARDBOARD BOAT RACE
We are also hosting our annual Cardboard Boat Race, design and create a fabulous cardboard boat to hold you and your crew! The more elaborate the design the better. Can you make it around the course while staying afloat? Start time for the race 2pm.
