Dorset Police will begin using live facial recognition technology across the county from August.
Dorset Police says it will deploy Live Facial Recognition technology as part of efforts to keep communities safe.
The force will use a clearly marked LFR van at locations across Dorset, with deployment sites publicised in advance.
The technology compares faces captured by a live camera feed against a pre-determined watchlist.
That list may include wanted offenders, registered sex offenders and perpetrators of domestic abuse.
Dorset Police says the technology can help detect crime, deter offenders, locate wanted people and protect vulnerable individuals.
The force says images of people who are not on the watchlist are instantly and permanently deleted.
